| Amen to that, too! People in NY are blind. They think that because these players do so well here that they can do the same anywhere. That's just simply not true. I know a girl who plays on a CUNY team (Div. 3) who scored almost 30 a game last season on her HS team. Granted, that team seldonly won, but she did score a lot of points. However, she hardly plays for this D3 team. She can't run a play, go right, play good defense, or set up her players to score and she's a point guard. We're not preparing these kids to play high level basketball. We're too busy recruiting them from one school to the other, or from one summer league team to the other. All they're learning is how to run away and get going if the going gets tough. There not learning to stand strong, be loyal, have pride, and be dedicated. That's why they're not improving at the rate they should. It take a whole village to raise a child. I'm sorry to say that this village is raising our children wrong. This generation has no one who could start to compare to Nicky McCrimmon (Bergtraum - USC - Sparks), Medina Turner (MLK - Georgia), Kieisha Garnes (Madison - San Diego State), Rhonda Singleton (August Martin - ODU), Trina Wilson (August Martin - Western Kentucky), Kendra Nelson (Paul Robeson - Seton Hall), Katasha Artis (South Shore - Northeastern - Sting), or Michelle Reed (August Martin - Western Kentucky - Sparks). All of these players came from the PSAL and there is not one player now who comes close to any of them. |
