The adidas/SlamJam Women's Basketball Classic unleashed its first annual 14 and Under Junior High School division/league. Unlike the SlamJam high school division the 14 and under division is for girls attending Junior High School. This division featured some of New York City and Long Island's very best up and coming girl basketball players. Some of the top players were as follows: Rosalyn "Slasher" Gold-Onwude (J.H.S. 157), Mercedes "The Matrix" Griffin (East Meadows J.H.S.), Holly "Executioner" Mahan (J.H.S. 158), Akeeta "Baby Shaq" Barrett (Martin De Porress), Ishawna "Wild West" West (Hempstead Middle School), Jasmine "Jazz Player" Dent (J.HS. 43), Nadine "Big Show" Vasques (Merrick Middle School), Robin Mervin (I.S. 195), Kisha "Scoring Machine" Stokes (Wadleigh School) and Ashley Ruballo (I.S. 111).

The league games, which ran from June 17th through August 26th 2000, were played at Public School 194 located 244 west 144th Street, between 7th and 8th Avenue, Harlem USA. The teams that battled for the right to be called SlamJam's first 14 and under champions were the Lady Mustangs, Douglass Panthers, Long Island Wave, Jimmy's Stars, Abyssinian Baptist Church, Kips Bay Lady Mustangs, Bushwick and Williamsburg Lobos. The eight teams played a round-robin format to decide who would go to the final four. When the smoke cleared there were four teams left standing, Lady Mustangs, Jimmy's Stars, Long Island Wave and the Douglass Panthers.

In the final four, the Long Island Wave played against Jimmy's Stars in one of the most exciting games you'd ever want to witness. This was a real white knuckler, an old fashion schoolyard brawl and a knockdown drag-out fight to the very end of the game. Fans were treated to the exciting basketball exploits of Mercedes Griffin A.K.A. "The Matrix," who scored 19 unbelievable points and led her team to a 60 to 57 overtime victory. Holly Mahan tossed in 18 points for the Jimmy's Stars team. In the second game of the final four Douglass Panthers did away with the lady Mustangs 49 to 34 after a tightly contested first half. The Douglass Panther were led by the unstoppable "scoring machine" Keisha Stokes who tallied up 16 points in this contest.

Junior High School Division Champions
The championship was set and scheduled to kickoff on Saturday, August 26, 2000 between the Long Island Wave and regular season first place team the Douglass Lady Panthers. The first quarter of this game was as good as it gets. Both teams ended the first quarter tied at 18 points apiece. The second quarter is where the Douglass Panthers exhibited their absolute defensive dominance by limiting the Long Island Wave to just two second quarter points. By half time the Panthers were leading this contest 28 to 20. Robin Mervin who had the game of her young life scored 17 big points, grabbed countless rebounds and made some great defensive stops led the Panthers. In the second half the Panthers ran away with this game behind the help of Priscilla Edwards, who finished the game with 12 points. The Panthers won their first SlamJam champion after seven long years by beating the Long Island Wave 64 to 49.

Special awards went to Robin Mervin, who was the championship game MVP. Keisha Stokes and Mercedes Griffin shared sportsmanship for the league. Nadine Vasquez was named Sportsmanship award winner for the championship game. Last but definitely not least, Rosalyn "Slasher" Gold-Onwude was the league's leading scoring and overall league MVP for the entire season.
